Always a favorite! And from ingredients always on hand. A good cookie for quick gift giving. Recipe came from one of the girl's Young Women teachers.
1 cup margarine (I use butter)
1 cup shortening--yes, shortening makes the texture
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
4 cups flour
- Cream margarine, shortening, and sugars.
- Add eggs and vanilla. Beat
- Stir in remaining ingredients.
- Roll dough into balls the size of walnuts.
- Roll in powdered sugar.
- Place on greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 11 minutes or so.
