Swiss Steak

This used to be a favorite dinner for large crowds at church gatherings and once the crock pot arrived it was a favorite do ahead dinner for me.

Have butcher tenderize round steak or buy what is called cube steak. Coat with flour, salt and pepper and brown with sliced onions in a small amount of oil. Put in crock pot and cover with mushroom soup and water and cook all day. Don't have all day? Then bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 2 1/2 hours in a covered heavy pan or on top of the counter in an electric skillet.
